Christopher Samuels was born and raised in metro Detroit. Samuels creates works that explore and expose identity. In 2009 he founded the artist-run gallery Org Contemporary and in 2010 he attended Skowhegan School Of Painting & Sculpture. Samuels’ has participated in exhibitions at the Austin Museum of Art’s Arthouse at the Jones Center in Austin, TX, Purdue University, IN and at Brennan & Griffin Gallery, New York. Samuels exhibited his first short film alongside Harmony Korine and Larry Clark at the Museum of SMU University in Dallas Texas. Samuels currently lives and works in Detroit, Mi.
Ian Swanson was born in Detroit, attending Wayne State University and subsequently receiving an MFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, where he currently resides. He founded and participated in artist-run organizations such as ORG, hotelart.us and objetosexual.info; inscribing his work with a participatory ethos whereby the spectators’ role within the work, as well as the context in which it is received, is thoroughly considered. Swanson has had recent solo or collaborative exhibitions with D’Agostino and Fiore (NYC), Bosi Contemporary (NYC), Free Paarking (St.Louis), Welcome Screen(London) and Simone DeSousa (Detroit). He has exhibited extensively in group exhibitions both nationally and abroad.
