THE JAVA PROJECT 252 Java Street BK NY 11222The Java Project is pleased to present Sunroof by Peter Kaspar / curated by Xavier Acarín. The exhibition investigates the troubling ecological circumstances of our time through imagery, sound, and sculpture. In this exhibition, Kaspar illustrates the automobile industries complex systems of exploiting natural resources through economic production. Peter Kaspar (b.1983) is an artist originally from Slovakia and currently based in New York City. His works have been included in exhibitions at DEP ART Brooklyn, Pulse New York, Catinca Tabacaru Gallery, Asia Contemporary Hong Kong, and the Bugok Culture and Art Center in Korea. He has recently been a resident at SVA Summer Residency in New York and Fountainhead in Miami. Xavier Acarín (b. 1982) is a curator from Barcelona based in New York City. He holds a Master in Curatorial Studies from the Center of Curatorial Studies at Bard College. Acarín’s projects have been presented at Chez Bushwick, Elastic City, The New School for Social Research, Peekskill Project 6 and HIAP-Helsinki International Curatorial Program. He is a regular contributor to A-desk and Culturas-La Vanguardia, and has written for Terremoto and BRAC (University of Barcelona). He has participated as author of the books Designing Experience (Bloomsbury, 2014), and Dear Helen (CCS Bard, 2014). He is the 2016-17 curator in residence at the Abrons Arts Center. |
